The history of the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery began in the mid-1800s when Battista Rinaldi, after years of work as a farmer, engaged in the vineyards of Marquises Falletti di Barolo, at the extinction of this family, managed to buy, with many sacrifices, some of those plots, in areas of great value such as Brunate, Le Coste, Ravera and Cannubi San Lorenzo. Battista’s intention was simply to cultivate the vine and sell the grapes produced, but his son Giuseppe convinced him to try the road of winemaking and bottling on his own and, in 1920 (finally), officially founded the Cantina Giuseppe Rinaldi. The Marche-based winery Garofoli, in Castelfidardo (in the province of Ancona), has really deep roots, dating back to the 19th century, since already around 1870 Antonio Garofoli was responsible for producing and selling wines in those areas. The real patriarch of this winery, however, is his son Gioacchino who, in 1901, expanded and reorganized his father’s business, making it merge into the Gioacchino Garofoli winery. Château Duhart Milon, the famous Bordeaux winery born in Pauillac, has a pretty long history as, already at the beginning of 1700, its wines were known, under the name of Château Milon, and considered the second vin of Château Lafite.
