Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata 2016, Isole e Olena

According to official records, the village of Olena was a real Tuscan farm, halfway between Florence and Siena, self-sufficient already in the 12th century, while the neighboring and coeval village of Isole became a real farm only in 1700 by the Elmi family. In the 1950s a certain Francesco De Marchi, descendant of a Piedmontese family in the Lessona area, who has been producing Piedmontese wines for three generations, moved to Tuscany and bought the two farms, giving rise to the Isole e Olena winery. The story of Beppe Caviola, owner of the Ca’ Viola winery and famous Piedmontese oenologist, began almost as a joke in 1991 when, after studying at the Scuola Enologica d’Alba, he met Maurizio Anselmo, who would become his trusted friend. Maurizio, who cultivated a small plot of land in Rodello, an equally small village 10 kilometers south of Alba, owned a tractor that lent to Beppe to use it on a vineyard that, in the latter’s opinion, would have the potential to give life to great Dolcetto grapes: the Barturòt vineyard. Ca’ del Bosco history begins in 1964, with the purchase by Annamaria Clementi Zanella of a small house, surrounded by chestnut trees, known as “Ca’ del bosc”, in the hills, in Erbusco, with two hectares of vineyards.
