According to official sources, at the beginning of the 20th century Lady Maria Costanza, an ancestor of the family, cultivated the vine and, in a small winery in Campobello di Licata, produced wines appreciated by the local customer. It will be necessary to wait until the end of the ’60s to see the birth, by the hand of Giuseppe Milazzo, of the homonymous Azienda Agricola G. Milazzo, also in Campobello di Licata, but it can be said that the road was already laid out. [Read more…] about Duca di Montalbo 2004, Azienda Agricola G. Milazzo

Kirchenstück G.C. 2016, Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf
When you are about to tell the wine history of Palatinate, the famous central German land, you can not help but mention the history of the Bürklin-Wolf winery. Without being too long-winded, it is enough to remember that already in 1580 Bernard Bürklin, who also became mayor of Wachenheim, had acquired many lands, allocating them to agriculture and viticulture. Chablis 2017, Daniel Dampt
The northernmost area of Burgundy, universally known as Chablisienne, is so famous that often the term Chalis seems to live of own life, independent from the macro-region it belongs from, because of its unique and peculiar pedoclimatic characteristics. In fact, the cold temperatures, added to the unique composition of the soil, made of marl and limestone of the Upper Jurassic (between 160 and 145 million years ago) mixed with shell fossils “Exogira Virgola” (154 million years ago), makes the wines that are produced there characterized by sharp acidity and meager body. Dettori Bianco 2019, Tenute Dettori
Talking about Alessandro Dettori and his wines is a very difficult task, as his figure has been gradually outlined with the characteristics of the timeless romantic myth. Actually Alessandro is light years away from this mythology, a bit naive, which unfortunately ends up neglecting its true strengths, such as the determination, a bit stubborn (so viscerally “Sardinian”), the great technical-agronomical background, and an enviable pragmatism. Echezaux Grand Cru 2010, Domaine David Duband
The Duband family began relatively late to enter the wine field, through Pierre Duband who, in 1965, created the homonymous Domaine Pierre Duband. The activity of Pierre was however limited to the production and sale of the grapes, obtained from the 15 hectares of property, to the Beaune cooperative winery, while it is necessary to get to 1991 to attend the first harvest of this domaine, renamed by his son David, who had just finished his oenological studies, Domaine David Duband. Prelit 2016, Damijan Podversic
Since 1988, in Collio Goriziano, land marked by a fratricidal war during the Second World War, there is the winery of Damijan Podversic, with its vineyards, located on the top of Monte Calvario, protected by a thick bush. Damijan’s vocation for viticulture was inherited by his grandfather, who cultivated lands not owned by selling wine for a handful of air, and by his father, from whom he inherited just half a hectare. Barolo Tre Tine 2011, Azienda Agricola Giuseppe Rinaldi
The history of the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery began in the mid-1800s when Battista Rinaldi, after years of work as a farmer, engaged in the vineyards of Marquises Falletti di Barolo, at the extinction of this family, managed to buy, with many sacrifices, some of those plots, in areas of great value such as Brunate, Le Coste, Ravera and Cannubi San Lorenzo. Battista’s intention was simply to cultivate the vine and sell the grapes produced, but his son Giuseppe convinced him to try the road of winemaking and bottling on his own and, in 1920 (finally), officially founded the Cantina Giuseppe Rinaldi. Saumur-Champigny 2010, Clos Rougeard
Talking about Clos Rougeard is a rather complex theoretical exercise since this domaine has tied its fame to the brothers Charly (Jean-Louis) and Nady (Bernard) Foucault. Today, however, after the disappearance of Charly in 2015, the domaine was taken over by Martin Bouygues, former owner of Château Montrose. [Read more…] about Saumur-Champigny 2010, Clos Rougeard

Franciacorta Zèro 2016, Contadi Castaldi
According to the available sources, it is possible to say that the Moretti family was present in Erbusco, the country became the beating heart of the denomination Franciacorta docg, since 1400. Certainly at that time it could not be assumed that those areas would become so important for Italian viticulture and for the production of sparkling wines and in fact, in 1967, the founder, Vittorio Moretti, had created a construction company, the Moretti Building on Human Values, which for a strange fate had specialized in the construction of cellars. Clos de la Coulée De Serrant 2011, Vignobles de la Coulée De Serrant
Although we often talk about the crucial role played by the viticulture of monks, more than a thousand years ago, for a first effective zonation of Burgundy, we forget to reflect on the fact that their “specialization” helped to develop viticulture in all the areas in which they stayed, also because of the fact that the Holy Mass needs both bread and wine to be celebrated. The case of La Coulée de Serrant in the Loire, for example, is not very different since it is a vineyard created by Cistercian monks in 1130, and remained so until today, to which is merged an old and small monastery.
