The wine revolution occurred on Etna at the turn of the last century and this, through the work of figures such as Giuseppe Benanti, Marc de Grazia, Andrea Franchetti and Salvo Foti (each with its own identity), had the merit of bringing this volcano back to the center of the debate on Sicilian wines tout court. In the wake of the enthusiasm aroused by these figures, many have begun, or started again, to produce wine in the various districts of Etna, as in the case of Pietradolce winery. Franciacorta UNO, Azienda Agricola Colline della Stella
The history of Azienda Agricola Colline della Stella is first of all the story of the tenacity and resourcefulness of a young man, the then little more than twenty years old Andrea Arici, that in the second half of the 90s decided to try a long and hard work of recovery of some old vineyards between Cellatica and Gussago, in the easternmost area of Franciacorta To tell the truth, the area of Cellatica was famous for its red wines, and the local vineyards were entirely planted with Barbera, Marzemino or Schiava grapes; this, however, will not discourage Andrea who, together with his father Francesco, plant first Chardonnay and then Pinot Noir. VT 2017, Capichera

We are in the 70s, in Gallura, about 20 kilometers from the sea of the northern coast of Sardinia, and those lands are destined to vineyards, and flanked by a cellar for wine production. Bourgogne Rouge 2016, Claude Dugat
Not many producers identify themselves with a specific production area as much as the Dugat family has done for about 70 years with the municipality of Gevrey-Chambertin. This small family domaine, in fact, continues to devote itself exclusively to its six hectares of vineyard (3 owned and 3 rented, but with full control over their management) despite the fame of wines creates a market demand far greater than the number of bottles produced. Tancredi 2017, Donnafugata
Inside the famous novel by Baron Guseppe Tommasi di Lampedusa, Il Gattopardo, there is the legend of the escape of the Queen Bianca di Navarre from a Sicilian castle where she was held prisoner by the Count of Cabrera, who intended to rule in his stead over the Kingdom of Sicily. It is from the story of this escape that the Donnafugata winery was founded in 1983 thanks to the initiative of Giacomo Rallo and his wife Gabriella, a curious and erudite woman, fascinated by the aforementioned story. Dedicato a Walter 2016, Poggio al Tesoro
Historical sources report that the Allegrini family played a prominent role among the rich landowners of Valpolicella already in the 16th century, a role that led them to become among the most famous wine producers of that area. Among the leading figures of this family, a special mention, also for the purposes of our history, goes to Walter Allegrini, who joined the company in 1983 as head of viticulture. Etna Bianco Ante 2015, I Custodi delle Vigne dell’Etna
For at least three millennia it is possible to find on Etna traces of a highly specialized model of viticulture; it is therefore not surprising that until a few years ago they existed in the historical Palmenti (small cellars where the vinification takes place only thanks to sweat and manual work) some presses similar to those described by Cato already in 160 BC. This relationship between a’ Muntagna (as Etna is called by the Sicilians) and the winegrowers has remained constant over the centuries, so much so that in 1435 in Catania was founded the Maestranza dei Vigneri; a corporation in which the old generations handed down to the new the traditional wine making techniques of those lands.
