On Monday, November 22nd, took place in Milan, in the halls of The Westin Palace hotel, the famous Chianti Classico Collection event, a particularly prestigious appointment that allows you to get an idea of the next vintages coming out of this famous denomination, protected and promoted, since 1924, by the Chianti Classico Consortium.
The event brought to Milan more than 60 companies operating in the Chianti Classico area and many of them, in addition to the wines with that denomination, have opted to present also those that, while remaining local wines, fall under the name Toscana IGT. Regardless of the denomination on the label, the tastings have confirmed in an increasingly clear way an indication already emerged in recent years: in Chianti Classico it has been chosen the elegance, freshness and immediacy path. I cannot say for sure what aging standpoint will have the wines I tasted, but I was surprised that in some cases I found myself in front of immediately pleasing and readable wines, despite they were uncorked right in front of me.
Given the premise, the time has come to give names and surnames of those wines that, although not necessarily the best in the absolute sense, I was impressed by:
►Concerto 2018 (Toscana IGT), Castello di Fonterutoli
With gap the best taste of the day thanks to the ability to mix an articulate nose to a palate in which pulp and freshness combine in a masterful way.
Rating: 95/100
►Chianti Classico Riserva Doccio a Matteo 2018, Caparsa
