Marisa Cuomo winery was born in 1983 as a wedding gift from Andrea Ferraioli to his wife Marisa. It is located in Furore, the Amalfi Coast fjord, in a town of very few souls perched on the rock. The vineyard terracing is extreme and every metre of land must be forcibly stolen from the inaccesible and precipitous rocks;
it is precisely for this reason that in Italy it began to call this type of viticulture with the adjective “heroic”.
On these extreme soils the 10 hectares of vineyards grow lulled by the sea, which soaks the bunches of iodine, and by the sun, which provides a constant irradiation throughout the growing year. The cellar, excavated with many difficulties in the rock of the fjord, at 500 meters high, guarantees an excellent average internal temperature, ideal for the wines-aging. The entire production chain is supervised by Professor Luigi Moio (essential protagonist of the valorization of the south-Italy wines) who began to work on a slow and patient recovery of ancient and rich in history grape varieties, almost completely forgotten. The Crown Jewel of the winery’s production is Fiorduva: a blend of Ripoli (40%), Fenile (30%) and Ginestra (30%) harvested manually in a slight state of over-ripening, pressed and fermented for 3 months in French barriques.
In this straw yellow with green reflections 2017 vintage is immediately evident a great consistency which, to the nose, turns into yellow plum, peach in syrup, mango, papaya, passion fruit and lime, accompanied by hints of strawberry tree honey, roasted hazelnut and noble hydrocarbon. The well balanced taste opens with a slight prevalence of the soft component, that slowly turns in the center-palate, on a savory and iodine note which, progressively, gives way to a long balsamic final.
