To speak of Ligurian viticulture without mentioning Rossese di Dolceacqua would be to do a wrong to the prestige of this wine, all founded on the incredible elegance it can express in Val Nernia, a handkerchief in the first hinterland halfway between the Western Ligurian sea and the Mountain. Gulfi is a winery founded in the homonymous locality of Chiaramonte Gulfi, in the south-western quadrant of the Iblei Mountains, in the province of Ragusa, by Vito Catania, an entrepreneur of Sicilian origins transplanted to Milan who, in 1996, decided to return to his homeland, to take over the wine tradition that his family had developed over three generations.

The history of the Capichera winery begins when the Ragnedda family inherited some lands in Tumbas de sos Mannos (Tomba dei Giganti = Giants Tombs), a prestigious archaeological site formed between 1800 and 1100 B.C. in Arzachena. Inside the famous novel by Baron Guseppe Tommasi di Lampedusa, Il Gattopardo, there is the legend of the escape of the Queen Bianca di Navarre from a Sicilian castle where she was held prisoner by the Count of Cabrera, who intended to rule in his stead over the Kingdom of Sicily. Thursday, Dicember 2nd was held in Milan, at the premises of DaDa in Taverna, an event dedicated to Pinot Noir and its still and sparkling declinations in the Oltrepò Pavese lands, as interpreted by a group of producers who created the project Oltrepò Terra di Pinot Nero.
