Gulfi is a winery founded in the homonymous locality of Chiaramonte Gulfi, in the south-western quadrant of the Iblei Mountains, in the province of Ragusa, by Vito Catania, an entrepreneur of Sicilian origins transplanted to Milan who, in 1996, decided to return to his homeland, to take over the wine tradition that his family had developed over three generations.
The winery management has always been inspired by the productive philosophy of Salvo Foti, one of the most authoritative voices of Sicilian enology, whose collaboration has helped to create a virtuous development system that did not take long to have its first effects. Too often, currently, we are used to talking about Sicilian wines thinking almost exclusively about Etna with its Nerello, Carricante and Minnella. The rise that the young Arianna Occhipinti, and her wines, have had in little more than 15 years of history, is a phenomenon that deserves to be studied, as it is a reality made, certainly, of success but also of a lot of commitment and effort. This young woman, newly graduated in oenology, soon began to cut her teeth, buying in 2004 , at just over 20 years, a piece of land in the area of Vittoria, in Sicily.
