The history that binds the Deiss family to Alsace, more specifically to Bergheim, near Ribeauvillé, has its roots back in time, until the first half of 1600. Since then the Deiss were known both for their skill in iron working and for the excellent agricultural management of their lands, even if there was still no talk of viticulture. Röttgen Grosse Lage GG 2019, Heymann-Löwenstein
The Löwenstein family has a close relationship with wine production in the Winningen area, in the northernmost part of the Moselle, for about 500 years, and the winery Heymann-Löwenstein, founded in 1980, is simply the last link in this unbroken chain of 14 winegrowers generations. Although international critics have unanimously recognized, in the production of this winery, one of the most significant examples of German Riesling “Nouvelle Vague”, the air you breathe visiting the cellar or talking to the owners has an exquisitely archaic flavor. Confini 2015, Lis Neris
To establish a date of the connection between the Pecorari family and viticulture in the Isonzo valleys, near Gorizia, in Friuli Venezia Giulia, just 10 kilometers from the border with Slovenia, we have to go back to 1879. Since then this connection has never been broken, passing through five generations, and arriving at the current owner Alvaro Pecorari who, starting from the important development work done by his father, gave it a definitive organization through the creation of Lis Neris winery. Kirchenstück G.C. 2016, Weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf
When you are about to tell the wine history of Palatinate, the famous central German land, you can not help but mention the history of the Bürklin-Wolf winery. Without being too long-winded, it is enough to remember that already in 1580 Bernard Bürklin, who also became mayor of Wachenheim, had acquired many lands, allocating them to agriculture and viticulture. Riesling Alte Rebe 2018, Falkenstein
To give an idea of the prestige of the lands currently in possession of the Falkenstein winery, it is necessary to go back 900 years, in the twelfth century, when an official document speaks for the first time of the Bricco del Falco (Hawk’s hill, in German Falkenstein) like a precious and sought-after vineyard. In that area, in Naturno, 40 kilometers north of Bolzano, for at least 200 years, the Pratzner family, a family dedicated to a mixed form of livestock farming and agriculture, resided. Riesling 2015, Ca’ Viola

The story of Beppe Caviola, owner of the Ca’ Viola winery and famous Piedmontese oenologist, began almost as a joke in 1991 when, after studying at the Scuola Enologica d’Alba, he met Maurizio Anselmo, who would become his trusted friend. Maurizio, who cultivated a small plot of land in Rodello, an equally small village 10 kilometers south of Alba, owned a tractor that lent to Beppe to use it on a vineyard that, in the latter’s opinion, would have the potential to give life to great Dolcetto grapes: the Barturòt vineyard. Riesling Roche Granitique 2018, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht

Talking about Alsatian viticulture without mentioning Zind-Humbrecht is a rather complicated speculative exercise, since it is the winery that, perhaps most of all, has contributed to the development of this region. The Domaine was born in 1959 from the union of the lands of the Humbrecht and the Zind families, two dynasties that for centuries cultivated the vine in Gueberschwihr (Humbrecht) and Wintzenheim (Zind), in Alsace, united by the marriage between Léonard Humbrecht and Geneviève Zind.
