In 1899 engineer Erminio Sella and lawyer Edgardo Mosca departed from Piedmont towards the land of Sardinia in order to reclaim a vast territory in the locality i Piani, near Alghero, in the province of Sassari, and transform it from pasture to vineyard. Since then those lands have made the history of Sardinian viticulture and, although the property has passed to the Campari Group (in 2002) and, later, to the Moretti family (since 2016), the search for quality has never failed. The history of the Capichera winery begins when the Ragnedda family inherited some lands in Tumbas de sos Mannos (Tomba dei Giganti = Giants Tombs), a prestigious archaeological site formed between 1800 and 1100 B.C. in Arzachena. We are in the 70s, in Gallura, about 20 kilometers from the sea of the northern coast of Sardinia, and those lands are destined to vineyards, and flanked by a cellar for wine production. Talking about Alessandro Dettori and his wines is a very difficult task, as his figure has been gradually outlined with the characteristics of the timeless romantic myth.
