Dolceacqua is a small enclave, just over 80 hectares, in the far west of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, a few kilometers from France, which boasts a tiny production of wines based on Vermentino and Rossese. The beauty of the place, with its ethereal and timeless landscapes, also led the leader of impressionism, Claude Monet, to fix some traits in his famous “Le Château de Dolceacqua” which include the houses of the old village and the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). Ariento 2018, Massa Vecchia
We are in Massa Marittima, in the province of Grosseto, about twenty kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the upper Maremma Toscana, in an area characterized by metalliferous hills; here, in 1985, Fabrizio Niccolaini and his wife Patrizia Bartolini founded the farm Massa Vecchia. While remaining in the family, the management of the company passed, from 2009 to 2018, into the hands of Patrizia’s daughter, Francesca Sfrondini, who manages it in partnership with Daniel and Ines Wattenhofer, Thomas Frischknecht and Rocco Delli Colli. Entemari 2017, Pala

Viticulture is an activity known to the Sardinian population since about 5000 years, and the special relationship created on this island, over time, between man and wine is so deep that it can be compared only with that in the Caucasus region. Even if we wanted to consider only modern times, those who had the opportunity to visit Sardinia in the early ‘900 would have been struck by the impressive quantity of wine producers, considering also those who did it only for family use.
